By the end of 2025, India plans to present the world’s first feature film created entirely with the help of artificial intelligence. The film, titled “Maharaja in Jeans”, promises to be a true breakthrough in the film industry.
The project is being developed by renowned Indian writer Khushwant Singh and former Microsoft Vice President for Artificial Intelligence, Gurdeep Pall, who now holds a leading position at Qualtrics. Their long-standing friendship led to the idea for this unique project: Pall introduced Singh to the possibilities of AI generation, which inspired them to create something fundamentally new. Together, they founded the startup Intelliflicks Studios in Chandigarh, which took on the ambitious task of producing a feature-length film where technology plays the central role.
The film’s creation process will be truly unique: live actors will serve as prototypes for the characters, but their appearances will be completely transformed using artificial intelligence. Special software will generate the characters’ faces and process all the visual elements of the film.
The story of “Maharaja in Jeans” immerses the viewer in a series of historical events that took place in India, showing how they are reinterpreted by a modern-day protagonist. It will offer a fresh perspective on the past through the lens of the present.
Previously, producers tried twice to secure adaptation rights, but the project remained unrealized due to its high costs and large scale. Now, thanks to artificial intelligence technologies, they have managed to significantly reduce expenses and finally bring their idea to life. The film’s premiere could become a milestone for global cinema, showcasing what the future of filmmaking might look like.
